Living with Osteoarthritis, Chronic Pain and Searching for Answers
2022
By 2022, I had started rebuilding my life.
The herbal treatment, healthier eating and gentle exercise had helped me regain some strength. I was able to enjoy short walks again and slowly return to some of the things I had missed.
But the pain never completely disappeared.
My hands, wrists, elbows and knees remained swollen and painful. Some mornings, even the smallest tasks felt impossible.
There were days I couldn’t even get out of bed. Every step hurt.
When I looked at my hands, they no longer looked like my own. My fingers had become swollen and distorted. There were days I couldn’t even wear my wedding ring.
Eventually, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis.
Although I finally had another diagnosis, it still didn’t explain everything I was experiencing.
I refused to believe this was simply how the rest of my life would be.
So I kept searching.
As a former nurse, research had always been part of who I was.
I spent countless hours reading medical journals, scientific articles and health publications, searching for answers that might explain why my body continued to react the way it did.
I even followed the dietary recommendations of a well-known longevity doctor and adopted a diet low in lectins, hoping it would reduce the inflammation in my joints.
Unfortunately, nothing changed. The swelling remained. The pain remained.
There were moments when I began to lose hope.
I wondered if I would ever feel well again.
But something deep inside me kept telling me there had to be another answer.
I refused to stop looking.
And eventually…That search led me somewhere I never expected. Part six follows.
